October 2020 – PA Announces Three New Managing Directors

Former Cogent Partners Founder and Ex-Partners Group Partners Join Portfolio Advisors to help accelerate global growth

Portfolio Advisors, a global private asset management firm focused on the mid market, announced today that Stephen Sloan, Scott Higbee and Brooks Lindberg have all joined the senior management team. They will work alongside Brian Murphy, Adam Clemens and William Indelicato on the firm’s management committee.

Sloan co-founded Cogent Partners, the first and largest financial advisory firm focused exclusively on private equity secondaries. He led Cogent from inception in 2002 through a successful exit to Greenhill & Company in 2015. At Greenhill, he served as Head of Capital Advisory and was a member of the Management Committee. He brings extensive management and investment experience gained over 20 years and numerous landmark LP- and GP-led transactions. Sloan will leverage this experience to further develop Portfolio Advisors’ global secondary business across private equity, private credit and real estate.

Higbee was previously a partner at Partners Group, where he served as President of Partners Group (USA) and headed its New York office. Over his 14-year tenure at Partners Group, Higbee led business development and capital raising in the Americas. Following Partners Group he led global capital raising for mid-market equity and credit strategies as a Senior Managing Director at GoldPoint Partners. At Portfolio Advisors, Higbee will serve as Co-Head of Global Markets alongside founder Brian Murphy.

Lindberg was previously a partner at Partners Group, where he worked closely with Higbee from 2002 through 2014. As Global Head of Distribution Partners, Partners Group’s private client business unit, Lindberg led structuring, marketing and operations for a pioneering SEC-registered evergreen private equity fund that was followed by similar offerings connected with Carlyle, KKR and others. Previously, Lindberg was head of the firm’s global Structuring Services unit. Lindberg will lead product development and distribution of registered investment products across Portfolio Advisors’ private equity, private credit and real estate business lines.

“Stephen, Scott and Brooks bring insights, creativity, and decades of experience to Portfolio Advisors”, said Murphy. “Over the past 26 years, Portfolio Advisors has built a global investment platform, differentiated ourselves as leaders in the mid market, and generated outstanding results for our investors. As we continue to grow and evolve as a firm, the combined experience of our new partners and their track records of developing new investment businesses will be instrumental in our future growth and success.”
